At Norm Foster Properties, we believe a well-built home begins with a simple principle: do things properly, and build them to last. Our roots in property development go back more than three decades. In 1990, we volunteered on the restoration of Ottawa’s historic Paterson House, a project that received an Award of Excellence for Historic Renovation. The experience left a lasting impression — particularly the value of craftsmanship, thoughtful design and attention to the details that distinguish an exceptional building.

In 1994, we purchased our first multi-unit property, a five-suite building, and began renovating each home to a standard we would be comfortable living in ourselves. That philosophy became the foundation of our approach. Over the years, we acquired, improved and managed 11 properties, rezoning and adding homes along the way to create a portfolio of 26 residences.

The company is named in honour of our father, Norm Foster, whose belief in hard work, integrity and doing things right continues to influence everything we build. Today, Norm Foster Properties brings that experience to the creation of thoughtfully designed, energy-efficient homes. We combine proven construction methods with advances in building science — from high-performance building envelopes and windows to efficient mechanical systems and renewable energy.

But performance is only part of what makes a home special. We care equally about architecture, natural materials, craftsmanship and the way a home feels to live in every day.
